Objective: Create an original food advertisement design/illustration for an existing fast food restaurant.
Select and research a fast food restaurant. Consider its menu items. Research past poster designs and sale promotions. Determine a directions for poster advertisement.
Acquire photographic images of food items to be illustrated. Design should consist of 3 food items such as a soft drink, fries and a coke. Utilize a variety of tools in Illustrator such as (1) gradient mesh, (2) gradient, (3) Pen tools, etc to create realistic looking images.
Consider appropriate font faces that best communicate advertisement objectives.
Poster design should conform to a dimension of 13x19”.
Poster design should target an existing fast food restaurant and its food menu items.
Effective use of font face(s).
Illustrated food items should take on a realistic appearance rather than a graphic flat appearance.
Composition: Final composition should demonstrate use of asymmetry and effective use of the elements and principles of design.
Media Literacy: Demonstrate understanding of the gradient mesh tool and other relevant tools in Illustrator required to produce realistic looking illustrations.
Logo Recognition: Fonts, colors and logos should relate to original branding.
Day 1 - Research: By the end of day 1 students should have identified the restaurant, targeted food items and sales promotion
Day 2, 3, 4, 5 - Gathering Resources: Photographic images of food items should be acquired and the process of illustrating should be underway.
Day 6, 7 - Arranging illustrations into a single functional and cohesive composition. Applying typography information.
